A day in the life of food

Category > Food

Today I’m deciding to chronicle my daily food intake to give a sense of what I eat on a normal day. Obviously there are days when I throw in a cheat here or there, but I would say today was a standard one. There was a quote I once read and it has always stuck in my mind:

You will notice 1 of 2 things. #1. I eat almost every 2.5 – 3 hours. NO MATTER WHAT. If that means I am on the run and out and about for the day, I still pack a lunch as if I were in grade school. I try my hardest to never miss a meal or snack. #2. Small portion sizes are KEY. Since you’re eating so frequently, you don’t need to load up on food. Whatever your body doesn’t use, gets stored…and trust me, your body usually needs less than your brain desires.

Breakfast:

  • 1 scoop of VegeGreens Blueberry Flavour mixed with water
  • 1/2 scoop of Natural (No sweetener) Vanilla Protein mixed with water + dash of cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup (dry) Large Flake Oatmeal with a dash of Rice Milk + Strawberry
  • Multi Vitamin

Pre-Gym Snack:

  • 1/3 cup (dry) Large Flake Oatmeal with a dash of Rice Milk
  • 1/3 cup of coffee (I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but felt I needed it this day – blame it on the rain)

Post-Gym Snack:

Lunch:

  • 3/4 cup Turkey-Zucchini Lasagna (recipe coming soon)
  • Cucumber + Tomato Salad with a dash of salt and red wine vinegar

Snack:

  • Fresh fruit
  • 1/2 scoop of Natural (No sweetener) Vanilla Protein mixed with water + dash of cinnamon

Dinner:

  • Egg White Omelet – loads of veggies and NO cheese
*Cheat*:
  • A glass of red wine at a restaurant in celebration of a friends birthday

Typically you may see a small snack after dinner, but I had slept in a bit this day, so it threw off my eating times and I didn’t need the evening snack. Also, before I forget, I also had about 3.5 L of water as well today. I bring my BPA-free 1.5 L water bottle with me everywhere I go.

Here were a couple of snaps & outfit pics from the day. We had a BBQ in the afternoon (we didn’t have time to stay too long, which is why we ate before going over), but it was rainy and cold, so the hair went up in a ballerina bun and I threw on a blazer in the last minute. The evening look was at a birthday party for a friend at a local tapas restaurant called Cork.
Keep checking in as I’ll frequently be posting a food journal since it’s one of the things I get asked about most.
