Sephora Shopping Haul

Category > Beauty

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend – I can’t believe how quickly it flew by…especially when compared to how LONG Monday’s can feel. Luckily, I picked up a few goodies at Sephora this weekend to get me excited this morning (yes, I get as giddy as a child when I get to try out new products).

I wanted to share a quick shopping haul with you on what I picked up. A few items are my holy grail products and others are test drives with rationale on each. Enjoy!

Make Up For Ever – Aqua Eyes 0L [$20 CAD]: I toggle between eyeliners. I’ve recently settled on the Nars Pencil liner because it truly is smudge-free and waterproof, but for some reason, I felt like picking one up from Make up For ever. I’ve used this one many times before and do enjoy how well it glides on…I suppose switching between the two makes me appreciate them each more (I know that doesn’t make much sense).

Nars Bronzer – Laguna [$42 CAD]: The bottom of my bronzer palette was starting to peak through, and the thought of dropping it one day only to have it shatter, then be OUT of bronzer is unheard of, so I picked up another NARS Laguna. I generally wear this one year round other than the summer months when I get a bit of natural colour. I have to go a shade darker at that point because Laguna virtually disappears on my skin tone.

DIORSKIN FOREVER – 031 SAND [$48 CAD]: Those who know me well, know that I am addicted to Dior’s Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Fusion Wear Makeup. It has SPF 25 in it, which is a bonus. This is truly the best foundation I have ever tried because the colour matches my skin perfectly (next time you’re in the car, do the visor test…check out the colour while in the natural light and see how your foundation stands up – I’ve had days when it looked great at home, and a totally different colour when I got outside – worst thing ever!).  It doesn’t declare that it is waterproof, but it lasts ALL day long. I’ve even pulled some all nighters for work and it goes well beyond the 18+ hour mark. The best part is that it doesn’t feel like a cake face when you put it on (almost every other formula declaring “long wearing/full coverage” that I’ve tried are very heavy)…I could go on and on, seriously…next time you’re in Sephora or a department store, ask for them to pump a sample into a container for you and give it a go. Colours ending with a “2″ are more yellow/olive undertones and colours ending with a “1″ are for pinkish undertones.

Hope in a Jar – Omega 3-6-9 replenishing oil – [$59 CAD]: In the summer months I tend to get extremely dry skin and it drives me NUTS! In speaking with one of the reps, she sold me on the ‘When hope is not enough” Omega oil which is great for rubbing in your skin for renewal. I’ve only used it once so far and all I can tell so far is that is smells AMAZING. Whether it really works or not will need to wait. I’ll report back on this later. I am not easily sold by gimmicks and I have high hopes for this one because Omega 3-6-9 is SO good for you, so why wouldn’t it work on the outside as well as it does on the inside :). Fingers crossed it helps…

L’Occitane Hand Cream – Cherry Blossom [$12 CAD]: Keeping with the theme of dry skin, my husband actually picked this one out for me because he liked the design of the advertisement haha. After smelling it and reading the promise of intense moisture without being greasy (even after you wash your hands)…I was suckered in. I only used it twice before running to the L’Occitane store near my office earlier today to buy the full sized version. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS!!!!

Caviar – Replenishing Moisture Shampoo [$37 CAD]: Around this time last year my husband got sick – I won’t get into details, but even though we’re uber healthy we had to start analyzing everything in our lives (including any potential toxins). We found that my hairspray and a lot of my products may have contributed/aggravated symptoms. In general, it probably isn’t the greatest for you to be using products that are loaded with Sulfates, Phthalates & Parabens. Given that the Caviar line is natural, I wanted to give their shampoo a test drive. So far, so good. My hair is ultra silky and light weight. I was also shocked with how much it lathered. You really only need a tiny bit (and I have really long hair). Other than the first test drive, I’ll keep you posted on how well this one pans out, but I will definitely be sticking with Paraben/Sulfate Free products as much as I can.

Caviar – Working Hair Spray Ultra Control [$10 CAD Sampler Size]: Along the same theme as the Caviar shampoo, I am in pursuit of a Paraben, Sulfate, and Phthalate free Hair Spray. I was skeptical about this one, so I only bought the sampler size. I’m not TOO impressed, but will give it another go.

Phyto Paris – Volumizing Spray Phytovolume Actif Leave-In  [$35 CAD]: I LOVE big hair…LOVE. I’ve been wanting to try this one for a while after seeing many reviews for it declaring it as being one of the best volumizers. Sadly, I used it this morning but didn’t have time to style my hair, so it went into a pony tail. I’ll report back when I get to use it for real next time. Bonus with Phyto is that their products are also all natural.

How was your weekend? Have you tried any of these products before? Any recommendations for good products which are all natural?
